Our six‑week group work programme that we deliver at RASASC NW in Bangor and Rhyl offers a gentle, supportive space for survivors of sexual violence to reconnect with themselves and with others who understand. Each session focuses on building wellbeing through grounding techniques, self‑compassion, and practical ways of managing anxiety. We explore the complex emotions that often follow trauma, including shame and guilt, and help participants recognise these as understandable responses. The sessions focus on understanding how trauma can shape physical sensations, emotions, and patterns of coping, with particular attention to shame, anxiety, and anger. Through grounding techniques, reflective exercises, and gentle discussion, participants learn to recognise their responses as valid and understandable. The group also looks at boundaries—how to understand them, strengthen them, and honour them in everyday life. Throughout the course, the emphasis is on safety, empowerment, and the shared strength that comes from healing alongside others.
Parent Group
Our parent group at RASASC NW offers a structured six‑week programme designed to help parents understand, support, and care for both their children and them following sexual abuse. Across the sessions, we explore what child sexual abuse is and the many barriers that can prevent children from disclosing, before moving into the wider impact that trauma and abuse can have on a young person’s emotions, behaviour, and sense of safety. Parents are supported to look after their own wellbeing, recognising that caring for themselves strengthens their ability to care for their child. The group also provides clear, compassionate information about the Criminal Justice System, helping parents feel more confident if they choose to engage with it. In the final session, we focus on respectful relationships—what they look and feel like—and bring the group to a safe, thoughtful close. Throughout the programme, the emphasis is on empowerment, understanding, and creating a supportive space where parents can learn, reflect, and feel less alone
Walking Group
We’re also beginning a gentle monthly walking group, held every third Thursday of the month from 10–11am. It’s a relaxed, no‑pressure space where anyone connected with RASASC NW can come along, get some fresh air, and enjoy steady movement alongside others. There’s no need to commit to every month—people are welcome to join whichever walks they can. The focus is simply on connection, wellbeing, and giving yourself an hour to breathe, move, and feel supported in good company.
Coffee and Cake
Join us for a cosy coffee and cake in a relaxed, friendly space in Bangor or Rhyl. This gentle drop‑in offers a chance to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself and others. Whether you’re looking for connection, reflection, or simply a calm moment in your day, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
Our service offers separate groups for women, men, and non‑binary people, as well as mixed‑gender groups for those who feel most comfortable in a shared space. We work with each person to find the group that best fits their preferences and capacity, so everyone can join in a way that feels right for them. Our groups are not therapy sessions, they are a safe space to support each other.
